Words Can Not Express How Irrelevant This Title Is To This Post

This week I’ve been focusing on work. I’ve got two projects to finish, one of which is taking longer than anticipated, but that’s fine for the moment.

My parents are still away so I’ve got the place to myself, and in my maleness I’ve let it fall into quite a state. I’m usually a tidy person in the same way I’m a courteous person; there’s no need to be neat when there’s nobody to be neat for, so I’ve managed to quite disgust myself twice with how messy and unpleasant the place has become.

I pledged on Twitter yesterday to clean the place (amongst other things,) and it was the only thing out of the list that I didn’t even make an attempt on. Tonight I got sick of it and zoomed around the place like some kind of roomba robot and tidied everything up. The dishes are done, the mail’s sorted, and I just need to find the clothes basket and I’ll pick up my used garments.

It’s garbage day tomorrow so I’m going to have to get up super early and pack as much trash in the bins as I can — I forgot to take them out last week so they’re both full up — and take them out to be emptied. I’m loathe to put my recycling into the garbage bin, but I think circumstances may just call for it.

I also fixed up Dad’s computer. It’s long been in need of some maintenance, but I’ve never found the time. Ideally I’d liked to have wiped it and set everything up again, but he has about sixteen billion applications installed, and I’m willing to bet none of the discs that go with them. It’s working better now, although it’s a shit Pentium processor that idles at about fifty-five degrees, and either it (or Windows XP) is really starting to show its age, because the system is running like a dog. Not sure if it’s the later XP service packs bloating up the system, or if the actual hardware is starting to fail, but I’m reluctant to recommend more memory for it because it’s just a highly unpleasant machine.

The rear case fan has stopped working too, which is a major problem I’m going to have to look into.

I haven’t been cycling much at all. I stopped for a while over Christmas because I felt like I didn’t have the time, and then I fell ill with what I thought was a cold but has actually turned out to be my asthma. Now with the right drugs I’m mostly over that, but I’ve still yet to get back on the road. I think I’m going to have to start slow.

Highlights of the week include being invited to two things on the same night, Jack Dee making an ass of Rick Spleen, watching a documentary on SBS and making plans to better my life (providing my skin doesn’t fall off in the process,) and uhm… Watching as my bruise changes colours? No, nothing really. It’s been an exceedingly tame week, but my brain and body chemistry seems to be in order, so I’m content regardless.
