I’ve worked out that if I keep my laptop open at an angle of about 130 degrees, the screen will stay on and I can boot the system up. It’s not super reliable, but at least I can use it on the occasion as a sort of dumb terminal to connect to my desktop. I’ve only really made this connection tonight, which is also coincidentally the same reason I’m blogging in bed.
A few things have happened recently. I went to dinner with Diana on Thursday night, and it was great. We went to a little Aisiany place that Rach and I went to in the valley once. I couldn’t tell you the cuisine, but my meal was full of chilis and totally caught me off guard how hot it was. It was delicious though, and I had to blow my nose and wipe my eyes by the time I’d finished.
Diana had something sizzling, and I’m led to believe was also quite pleased with her meal.
Friday morning my parents left for a weekend away. I’m not sure where they went, and to be honest I’d much prefer if they’d just blog it so I’ve got something to cross reverence my post with, but they took my nephew Corey north somewhere to what I’m also led to believe was some kind of place.
Friday afternoon a man knocked on the door and delivered me a carton of Tim Tams which I’d won in a contest two months previously. This was more of a curse than a blessing, and I’ve been liberally distributing them to visitors ever since.
I was planning on going for a ride on the weekend. Matt suggested we ride to the Gold Coast, but that didn’t pan out initially because I was concerned I wouldn’t have money and later because Matt didn’t press the issue. Instead I rode out to Lutwyche to check out the construction on the Airport Link and see what kind of diversions were in place for the bikeway. Turns out not many, and the entire affair was highly uninteresting.
The trip home was excruciatingly difficult riding the entire way into the wind, and I stuffed up my latently fucked arse muscle. I’ve got a muscle or nerve in my left buttock that twinges sometimes, and it can be extremely painful. The last time it gave me trouble was years ago and it took four hundred bucks worth of rear end electroshock before it was fixed, and the fact that it’s reared its ugly butt right after I’ve starting cycling seriously once more is a bit of coincidence I’m going to keep my eye on.
I started watching iView later into that night, and ended up watching both Hope Springs and Hyperdrive which went until about half past one in the morning. The next day was an utter waste in which I did virtually nothing.
Today was mostly work-related, with a brief interval to watch Top Gear. I’m a consumer, you see.
