My parents are off again.
They’re in and out of this place like an analogy I don’t want to associate my parents with. They’re off to some place, somewhere, and I’m not even going to try to remember where because I’ll just get it horribly wrong like last time. This at least means that I have got the house to myself for the weekend.
House to myself for the most part, considering the renovations I moved out last year to get away from have finally started up again. The insurance claim against the work of previous contractor Jeff Blanck came through, so now there’s a second wave of pulling shit out, repairing it and putting it back together. They’ve taken out the entire bathroom again, fixed the broken floorboards, gutted the dodgy kitchen fittings and generally done more in two days than the last guy did in a month.
The down side is that once again there’s a bunch of strange people in the house on weekdays, so I can’t walk around in underpants (or shower between the hours of six and four.) This is mostly fine because both of these things are little luxuries I suppose I can live without.
For something different, I’m going to a soiree at Pwen’s place this evening. I’m thinking of cycling there because it’s only a suburb away and the alternative is catching the train. Tonight I am too good for the train.
On the weekend I’m thinking of putting the bike on the rack and taking a trip across the Brisbane river to follow the Moreton Bay Cycleway on a fact-finding mission for OpenStreetMap. I’m not sure if it all connects up or not, but if it does it will please me very much. I really can’t wait for the new Gateway Bridge to open, because it will make cycling to the south side so much easier.
I have no other plans for the weekend, but I suppose there will be a bit of inconsequential sitting around, some sweet fuck all, and perhaps I’ll cook some chicken for dinner one night. I anticipate my weekend of Friday November 13th will be entirely unspectacular, if somewhat fulfilling.
