Database Lost

Here’s another unhealthy dose of apathy for you. After I lost my laptop and wiped my hard drive, the one single thing that I forgot to back up was the database for this very site.

This is in fact not the first time I’ve done this, it’s the second. Both times I’ve wiped it out unwittingly, destroying many hours of work on the new you beaut version of my site. I have dropped hours into this damn thing, and it’s so damn depressing knowing that I’ve gone and wiped out the basis of all subsequent work.

So yes, I can start anew, and yes I’ve got the rest of the site (the database is a small part after all,) but it means that I’m going to have to back to teh very start and re-re-rearrange everything in order to set up a bunch of new things all over again. It’s a killer demotivator.

The moral to this story is that you should back up your damn database, although the purpose of this post is just to get this little black gem of stress and anxiety out in the world in the hopes a bit of sun and atmosphere in the blogosphere might weather it down into a smaller piece of shit I can cope with.
