Things I’d like to do today.

It’s a slow day, but the weekend’s going to be rad. So, here’s a list of all the things I’d like to do today:

  • Go to the bank to get my new card activated. I’ve got a new account at the Commonwealth Bank down the road, entirely for convenience. National can eat a dick.
  • Top-up my Go Card. The majority of my balance was eaten up by “fines” for failing to “tap off” which is infuriating, to say the least. I thought they’d made that system fair.
  • Buy a new pair of shoes, now my funds are freed up. This has been an ongoing affair, since I can’t ever find any shoes I like. I just want smart-casual sneaker-ish footwear for crying out loud!
  • Set up my speakers, lighting, shelving, and other personal items. I’ve got my bed and desk set up at long last, but most of my personal stuff is still in boxes downstairs.

I think that’s probably about it for the moment.

Tonight I’m going to an OpenStreetMap get-together at UQ, and it’ll be interesting because I’ve only ever met two other people with this particular cartographetish. David Dean, de-facto dude organising these things in Brisbane is trying to bring it mainstream by marketing it to general-purpose geeks, and it’s probably a very good good time to do so. With coverage in Brisbane finally starting to look good (on the north side at least,) the thing the community needs is more exposure to tech-savvy consumers and developers rather than actual mappers. I’m just guessing that’s what tonight is about, but there’s also pizza and drinks if you’ve got enough money to buy your own, so it’ll be good either way.

On Saturday I’m going to the There Aint No Party Like A Morayfield Party party, to help warm Ross’s house. I just noticed it’s actually a themed party, so I’m also going to have to get into a panic and find myself something ideal to wear today. In the interim, I’m going to freak out and panic because I don’t have the car (required to haul myself sideways along Brisbane’s public transport grain) to get to Chermside. I could replace the tyres on the bike then ride there, but that’s going to take forever and I’ll get filthy in the process.

Actually, I might leave it at that. I’m too freaked out and panicked at the moment to write more. This is a disaster!
